British esports organisation Method has announced Joel Holmes-Darby, the co-founder of EXCEL Esports, as its new General Manager.
According to the organisation’s website, Holmes-Darby will be working with Method’s World of Warcraft guild and any future Method operations to “help enable the organisation to achieve its rebuild objective and bring on incredible talent.”
Holmes-Darbymost recently worked as EXCEL Esports’ Chief People Officer when Wouter Sleijffers and Robin McCammon were brought in as CEO and CCO, respectively, last January. However, he made a surprise departure from the organisation he co-founded with his brother Kieran back in October of 2020.
He has also previously worked with Gfinity as its franchise lead on its Elite Series and also KPMG in a consultant management role.
The announcement continues to highlight Method’s rebuilding process, with the organisation rebuilding its structure following the disappointing news of its abuse scandal last summer.
Scott McMillan, Founder and CEO of Method published an update on the organisation on Twitter yesterday commenting: “I have spent a lot of time thinking about Method’s rebuild recently and wanted to share those thoughts with you.
“I am more committed than ever to rebuilding Method into an org the community can be proud of.”
Joel Holmes-Darby, new General Manager had this to say on why Method was the choice for him: “I wanted a new challenge and Method’s rebuild was the perfect fit. They have learned from their mistakes, and in doing so have paved the way for an improved version of the organisation that can thrive in 2021 and beyond.
“My experience in the industry thus far has given me a very unique perspective and a strong operational skillset, which I intend to bring to this new role to help enable the organisation to achieve its rebuild objectives.”
Esports Insider Says: The entire organisation has done fantastic work to rebuild the inside structure ever since its capitulation last summer. The hiring of Joel Holmes-Darby is a fantastic coup for Method, who are certainly on the right track to restore their status within the esports industry as a top organisation.
